Twenty-six year veteran of the Altoona Police Department. Progressed through the ranks from Patrolman to Detective, Sergeant and Lieutenant before appointment as Deputy Chief, June 2001. Experienced all facets of the police department, including patrol, criminal investigations, support services and management/administration.
Former member of the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Drug Task Force since its inception in 1989 and until retirement in 2008.
Certified examiner on Voice Stress Analysis (computer technology on the detection of deception).
Former instructor for the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney
General and the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Institute.
Instructed police officers and Assistant District Attorneys on
the investigation and prosecution of Child Abuse cases.
Qualified in the Court of Common Pleas as an expert witness in the investigation of Child Abuse and Narcotics Investigation.

Minus his 5 years of service in the U.S. Air Force, Mitch has been a life long resident of Blair County. His wife, Gina, of 28 years, works as a nurse at the Altoona Hospital in the neurology department. The couple has also raised 3 children in Altoona. Daughter Kelly, 26, graduated from Penn State Altoona in 2004. Also choosing a career in nursing, she works in the progressive care unit at the Altoona Hospital. Son Mark, 23, graduated from Penn State Altoona in 2007. He currently is an AmeriCorps VISTA member with the Blair County Respiratory Disease Society in Altoona. Patrick, 23, son and twin brother, also graduated from Penn State Altoona in 2007. Now living in Boca Raton, FL, he is pursuing a Master's degree in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University.
