Bill Ayers Will Speak at Penn State Altoona

Posted at 01:22 PM on November 12, 2009

Penn State Altoona’s chapter of Kappa Delta Pi presents Bill Ayers, Thursday, December 10 in the Slep Student Center. Ayers will speak on, “Democracy and Public Schools” from 4:00-5:30 p.m.

During the 2008 Presidential campaign, a controversy arose over his past contacts with President Barack Obama. Ayers had formerly been involved with an anti-government extremist group called Weather Underground Organization.

Ayers is now an elementary education theorist who works with education reform, curriculum, and instruction. He is a professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois.

The event is free and open to the public, and is first-come, first-seated.

Who's paying for this muderer to speak at our public university? This traitor should be in prison, not advising America's future on education. I don't support a protest of his attendance because that only gives him the attention he wants, but I encouage EVERYONE to STAY HOME!

I hadn't heard of Bill Ayers or the Weather Underground before I read this post so I did some research on him and the group. They made bombs and such, but were always careful not to set them off when people were around. To the best of my knowledge the only people who died due to their actions were their own members during a bomb making accident. He is not a murderer, but it does seem odd that he is now a respected educational theorist.
