Dear Neighbor,

Hello! I'm Jason Ibrahim, and as a Republican candidate for Altoona City Council, I have a passion to serve our city. With your help, I hope to make our hometown more of what it already is - a place where parents want to raise their children, entrepreneurs want to grow their businesses, and everyone has the opportunity to prosper and flourish.

As the son of a teacher and printing pressman, I witnessed the value of an honest work ethic. My mother worked during the day and my father at night to ensure a good life for our family. Today, as a software developer, husband, and father of two, I embrace this work ethic not only personally and professionally, but in my role as a citizen as well. More than any other challenge, we must reject apathy - that subtle assumption that working to better our hometown is not worth the effort.

If elected to City Council, I want to:

   -Promote a healthy business climate by cutting red tape, allowing small businesses to flourish

   -Utilize technology to help our city officials do their jobs safer and more effectively

   -Work with businesses and individuals to take ownership of our neighborhoods

   -Introduce legislative impact statements that analyze the full consequences of proposed ordinances on the business and residential climate

   -Be a public spokesman for the sanctity of life

Now, in the midst of an economic storm, our challenges are great, but so is our potential. I believe that the resources we already have in Altoona are sufficient to weather the financial crisis. History shows that some of this country's greatest successes have occurred in the midst of crisis, when enterprising leaders had the foresight to wisely manage resources while pursuing innovative ideas. Just think: what can we do to make that Altoona's next chapter?

That's my vision for Altoona, and that's why I ask for your vote on November 3.
