Good morning,
This is a report of my weekend, where I participated in "America's 9/11 Foundation" 2009 motorcycle ride. The foundation's purpose is to raise money to support the Fire, Police & EMS personnel, and the families of those first responder's killed in the line of duty. We are also committed to NEVER FORGET the attacks of September 11, 2001.
The ride took us (along with about 650 other motorcycles) on Friday from Somerset through the flight 93 crash site, to Berlin, Cumberland, Hagerstown and Leesburg to the Pentagon. On Saturday we left the Pentagon traveling into Maryland through Baltimore, Delaware, Bordertown and Linen N.J., and into New York City. Sunday morning we traveled down 42nd St. through Times Square and on to Ground Zero, where we were escorted inside the gate (previously restricted to family and workers). From Altoona the ride was in excess of 850 miles.
I would like to apologize to my friends in the Northern Virginia, Washington DC area who may have been inconvenienced. Having spent time in DC traffic tie ups, I know how frustrating it can be, however, it was certainly for a good cause.
The cheers and flag waving along the way (even in the pouring rain) were very humbling. For us we were just out for a ride. It does however, give me hope for America. The thousands of flag waving Americans of all ages were not the people you see on the evening news. These are the real Americans. These are the people who Love this country and will stand up for her no matter what. These are the people who want to celebrate America and cheer for her...not apologize for her. This IS America, God Bless her and ALL of her citizens.
9/11...Never Forget.
