Altoona Candidate Speaks

Posted at 05:31 AM on June 09, 2009

I am running for Altoona City Council to hopefully change the way things are run in this area. We have $170,000 dollars going to the Mishler theater from our wonderful U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster and we have a Tour de Toona race that has been going on for ten years.

But I do not see any government official wonder or working towards our future. We the people, not we the elected officials, run this country and we have to act that way. I thought when our current president won, it would spark a lot of people in believing that if we came together and work together we could do a lot. That is why Obama won, because PEOPLE were tired of the same old stuff, and this AREA is way over due in not having good paying jobs.

My grandfather left this area back in the 50’s because the railroad would not let GM or Ford come here and not a lot has changed since then, other than the good old railroad is slowly shutting down now. Wake up people. Ebensburg has a factory that builds windmills and the employees make a lot of money, but people in Blair County have shopping Centers. That’s what we settle on, so that is what we have. We need to work together and improve this area.

Do you really want to trust any kind of decision making when it comes to money with this individual when he can't even manage his own money and has a record of bankruptcys. What does he know about employment when most retail jobs etc that he has held he has been fired from!

I BELIEVE, this is the problem with this area exactly, the people that try to run for office with dignity and respect towards our local people get bashed from the citzens; but the people that run for office and seem to do whatever they want when elected, not to mention (KEEP GETTING RE-ELECTED) people never say a word about it or say something but take no action.

I will say it again, the thing I will do in office is; STAND UP FOR THE PEOPLE....I never claimed to be perfect, but I can say I have learned along the way.

It says in ROMANS 6:23, "the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our lord and I hope everyone that reads this is, realizes no single person is able to look at another and believe that individual has not made mistakes along the way .

May god bless Cricket for her feelings and thank you for reminding me of how much a sinner I truely am, for it says in LUKE 15:7, "I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who do not repent."

God bless Altoona and the surrounding Area and GOD BLESS AMERICA

Dear Mr. Preusser
Apparently you should educate yourself more in the ways of becoming a politician since this is the route you so desire. As a politician you are subjecting yourself to scrutiny and investigation by your potential voters. I do believe that it the right and obligation of a citizen to make other voters aware of the candidate if they have prior knowledge of a potential candidate's past. Because as we know their pasts often speak of their future decisions, and we all know the saying " History Repeats itself." Cricket is merely doing what our forefathers fought for and that would be the freedom of speech. She does make a point if you did file for bankruptcy that means that you ran up debt to businesses that you did not feel the need to pay or take responsibility to pay for. You did not take responsibility for your own finances. So why should we trust you with tax payer dollars if you cannot manage your own finances. All of your pasts can easily be revealed and are on public record and can be checked into. are I also take great offense to your constant referrals to problems "with people in this area".Since you seem to not notice these people are the ones that you want to vote for you and you should be standing behind your community not putting them down like you are above them. I do believe that you are not prepared to hold office and it shows in your writing. You know nothing about politics, how to solve any of these problems, When you dont know something you spout off a religious sentence that doesnt even apply to what you are trying to explain. For all we know you probably googled the bible! So since the only thing that you can comprehend is bible verses I will send one to you to think about, I also thinks that it is the perfect verse for you, and to the the voters to contemplate .... "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit. A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will know them by their fruits. "Not every one who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven. On that day many will say to Me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your Name, and cast out demons in Your Name, and do many mighty works in Your Name?' And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you evildoers.'" (Matthew 7:15-23 RSV
