Lesson Learned

I BELIEVE, this is the problem with this area exactly, the people that try to run for office with dignity and respect towards our local people get bashed from the citzens; but the people that run for office and seem to do whatever they want when elected, not to mention (KEEP GETTING RE-ELECTED) people never say a word about it or say something but take no action.

I will say it again, the thing I will do in office is; STAND UP FOR THE PEOPLE....I never claimed to be perfect,...

MUZZLE LAW QUESTION ON THE BALLOT!

When will Altoona care for its citizens as much as they do for its pets? Altoona's ever growing community of elderly have been confined by the unresponsive community officials on the subject of passing a muzzle law for fighting breed dogs.

To allow pit bulls to run unmuzzled and/or unleashed is a disservice to the community. The officer that had to put down the roaming pit bull was entirely right in his quick and precise actions. I, myself have noticed these do...

I would like to see more children-friendly attractions. Places for families to meet, share meals, enjoy our kids in a safe environment.

FOUNDATIONS AND PILLARS

Greetings and Happy Summer to All! The article in the April 2008 Issue of EON featured a story of me and one of the projects I was working on for June. Well, I am happy to say that all the hard work and labor throughout the past year in the planning and implementation of the details for the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women 2008 State Convention proved to be successful.

One of my main goals as a leader in this county is to continue to bring recognitio...

TYRONE PUSHING FORWARD

Having now resided in Tyrone for a number of years, I've seen the effects that a few different approaches in administration have had on the borough. For me, the draw to Tyrone was, precisely, the bedroom community aspect. Upon arriving, however, it soon became apparent that the community had deep-seated issues relative to, most formidably, crime and economic crisis. Those issues created a stagnancy that permitted, through inaction, propagation of myriad additional difficulties. A...

A TROOPER'S VIEWPOINT ON GUN CONTROL

I am a retired State Police Officer and I take great offense at the Governor's use of the tragic death of a police officer to politicize this issue. Banning assault style guns or high capacity magazines will have no effect on the safety of police officers. Such a law will only serve to keep these items from people who obey the law. Criminals will still have access to illegal weapons. Remember, a criminal is defined as a person who does not obey the law. What makes the governor th...

RACE IN PROPORTION

I've been reading over a lot of the other opinions, and one sticks out to me. The one from Scott stating how there aren't equal rights in Altoona. People are obsessed on seeing race and not the person. I have to agree with him on that in some aspects, but not because blacks aren't receiving the same rights as whites. Not because you don't see Sheetz or any other business filled with black workers. Let's face it. You aren't going to see that because whites outnumber the blacks her...
