Healthcare has, for some reason, been a subject of much debate in political circles these days to the point where it has almost become the social pariah of the Democratic Party. They are using it as a whipping boy to show how evil the Republicans are, just as the Republicans use abortion to show how evil the Democrats are.
The debate should not exist. It persists only because the ruling powers of our country create it and perpetuate it. They are masters of dividing and con...

Dear Congressman Shuster,
To open, I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to review some issues that I believe should be brought to your attention. I am a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and I would like to bring the following subjects to the table regarding healthcare within the uniformed services.
One issue is that the uniformed personnel are to make a scheduled appointment with providers to get essential referrals in order t...

RHJ Medical, Inc., is a rehab company for heroin addicts that wants a federal judge to overturn the will of the people in Dubois so they can open their clinic there (500 feet away from a public park.) We have heard the tune to this song before, have we not?
It is an unfortunate reality of our times that we do need these rehabilitation clinics, and we need a lot of them. But understandably, no one wants them in his back yard. It seems like an irreconcilable problem, but it is not.

While searching over the internet I came upon this site that was referred to me several months ago by a wise and dear friend. I had misplaced it and as fate would have it, I stumbled onto it tonight and I have something to say.
Valley View Home is the Blair County Nursing Home, and I would like to have the opportunity to speak with the Commissioners to ask the many questions that I have.
An unknown author writes, "I will devote myself to the welfare of my patients, my...

I strongly disagree that I have turned my back on the elderly by bringing Affinity Health Services in to manage the County's skilled nursing facility, Valley View Home. The home has been a significant drain on the county's financial situation over the past several years. Instead of just planning to get rid of the home, I felt we should bring in a professional management team that has a proven track record in many other County and private facilities. We interviewed all five of the...

I completely agree with the statement that Jen from Duncansville wrote. I have often told my children not to put me in a nursing home because I know that will be the end of me. I greatly agree with the fact that the management is concerned with all the money they can make by making the staff shorter and shorter. Well, let me tell you that nursing homes in my view are just a money making facility, and they (the management) do not care about the patient. I know of three nursing hom...
